What Happened with Meta Ads? ๐ง
On an average Sunday this month, around 2,300 US-based shops using TW would have spent approximately $1.5 million by 10 am EST.
Meta acknowledged the problem within hours of receiving reports and promptly worked on a solution while assuring ad partners that credits would be issued to rectify the issue.
According to prominent social media account Triple Whale, by 10 am EST on a regular Sunday this month, about 2,300 US shops using TW would have spent roughly $1.5 million. However, that number surged to $3.7 million later in the day.
Surprisingly, Pixel clicks remained unchanged, resulting in a staggering 147% increase without any noticeable outcomes.
While Triple Whale empathized with the affected brands, they also expressed concern for Meta's engineering and account teams, who were likely under immense pressure.
Although the issue seems to have been caused by a glitch, Triple Whale is confident that Meta will take appropriate action and issue refunds.
Triple Whale stressed the importance of implementing failsafes, such as using rules and anomaly detection.
They also advised everyone to take a moment to relax, remember that you're not alone in facing this issue, and share the data with your peers, clients, or boss. Finally, don't forget to unwind and enjoy some time outdoors this afternoon.
By 9:45 pm ET, Meta reportedly resolved the problem, and all ad systems returned to normal functionality.
Meta plans to reach out directly to the affected ad account managers in the coming days.
